Christmas Knitting--- DONE!

Christmas FO's that I've been working on since Thanksgiving and All Done!

This is a set of dishcloths that I am making for my neighbor at home who is environmentally conscience. I thought it would be a good gift that she can reuse over and over again! I have made 2 black, 1 white and 1 red. I am working on the 2nd white one and then 1 more red one for a set of 6. She requested them be black and white with some red as well. I didn't get too detailed or fancy with any of them because I didn't have a ton of time to finish, but she will love them just the same!

This is a great scarf for my Mimi. My mom's mom who is trendy and so much fun! She will just love this scarf and it's upexpected, which makes it even better!

Detailed shot of the scarf...

This is a drop stitch scarf (pattern on Ravelry) that I made for my Grandma E. She will also love this because she doesn't know its coming!

Full shot of the scarf... It was super easy and I love it!

Last up is a set of discloths for Grandma E. I saw that she had some that have seen better days, so I decided to make her some new ones! There will be 2 solid lavender ones, the multi colored one, and then maybe a half and half one too. She will be so excited to get to use new ones!!!

More project details on Ravelry. I'm Blancheknits83! I hope that everyone has a great Holiday season!!!

:)

I'm still here with FO's!

I've just been sooo busy! I started a new job in November and I haven't had a lot of blogging time. I havw, however, had a lot of knitting time! Take the metro in the morning and then after work has allowed me to get a little bit of knitting done every day. So I am slowly making progress on everything. So the rest of this post will quite a few FO's for a baby girl. Her mom is punk and loves pink, black, and skulls. So I made quite a few things that are pink and black... no skulls though...

First up is a pink dishcloth. It was a super basic pattern that I have been using for alot of dishcloths I've been making...

Next is a Bib 'O Love from the Mason Dixon book. This was super easy and fast.

Saarjte's Booties are up next. Theese were done in 2 night of watching TV, but I had to wait for the buttons... I think they are awesome!

And then we have 3 hats that I made for the baby. All 3 are different sizes so that the baby can grow into them. I like the stripes on them.

This is my FAVORITE piece that I made... It's the corner of a blanket that I made. It was double stranded with Pink and Black Red Heart Soft yarn, which is awesome and washable! I used the basic dishcloth pattern but CO 8 and increase to 100 then decreased back to 8. It was knit on size 13 circulars.

Here is the whole blanket. It's going to be super warm for the baby to use in the car seat or when traveling!

And I couldn't forget about the Mama! I made a garter stitch scarf with some drop stitch rows on the ends. It's probably close to 6 feet long. I knit it on size 15's straights in about 2 hours!

And a hat for Mama too! It was made on size 9 DPN's in about 2 nights with a seed stitch border.

The next post will have more FO's for Christmas gifts that I'm still finished up!

Happy Holiday's everyone!

Tagged

I was tagged for the 8 weird things meme by Laura (Oh I love Ravelry!)

Rules:

Once tagged, you must link to the person who tagged you. Then post the rules before your list, and list 8 random things about yourself. At the end of the post, you must tag and link to 8 other people, visit their sites, and leave a comment letting them know they’ve been tagged.

8 things? Hmmm...

1. I have to have my camera with me everywhere I go. Even if I don't take pictures, I have to have it in case I want to take pictures! It's so small that this is an easy task, but always with me!

2. I would rather help clean someone else's room than to clean mine. If someone is in the room with me while I clean, then I feel like I have to start cleaning, but if I'm there by myself, I can be super messy and don't care!

3. I can't stop thinking about sewing. Not that I need another hobby, but I would love to have access to her machines more often. I am so into it right now, that I have a few projects planned for when I go home for Thanksgiving!

4. I think about moving back to the Midwest on a daily basis. I struggle with my myself on why it would and wouldn't be a good idea. In the end, I'm still here, so I guess I haven't had good enough reasons to move home!

5. I've lived with 1 girl, 2 girls, 4 girls, 2 guys, and now 2 more girls. I prefer to live with guys, if I have my own bathroom. They are nicer and not to eager to bitch, moan and yell at you! Although, I will say that I love my current roommates and could be in a better living situation if tried again.

6. I have always wanted to learn to play the guitar. I don't really think I ever will, but I have always wanted too.

7. I have a small obsession with hangbags, jewelry and sunglasses. I can walk into a store and walk out with 2 or 3 handbags, lots of jewelry, and 2 or 3 pairs of sunglasses and not think twice about it. I could even go into a store looking for clothes only, walk out with no clothes and all accessories! Some might call me an accessories whore.. I call myself.. AWESOME! ;o)

8. I have recently lost 40 pounds and it took my roommate to tell me how good I was looking to actually look in the mirror and realize that I wasn't looking that bad! I'm quite proud of myself for sticking to the Weight Watchers! It feels good and I can't wait to see what it will feel like when I lose more!

So, I'm not tagging anyone else, but don't now that many people yet... so just take it off here and do it if you want!

P.S. Two posts in one day... That's unheard of with me!

HALLOWEEN!!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!!

I hope that everyone is having a great Halloween! I've been eating pizza and candy all day, but that's okay. I have had a great week!

On the knitting front, not much knitting. Just some progress on some baby knits for a friend!

I did dress up today thought... I introduce to you... Me as a celebrity/socialite/snobby girl :o) It has been fun all day and really easy to wear all day. What do you think?!

Lots of Knitting...

Not so much blogging.
Here is what I have been doing....

First up.. I entertained my parents, all of DC for 5 days. We had a blast. We went to the National Cathedral, Georgetown, Old Town Alexandria, Knit Happens, Leesburg Outlets, the National Zoo, dinner with my DC friends, dinner with my DBF (first time meeting each other and it went GREAT), and just enjoyed hanging out with each other!
We saw the beautiful flamingos at the Zoo and I had to take a picture for my BFF, Jenn, from home! She LOVES them!

After the 5 days with my parents. I had a knitting day with my great friend Wendy! We went to Knit Happens and to Springwater Fiber Works to knit, then to a coffee shop and a custard shop. We knitting everywhere we went. And took NO pictures :o( But I have some progress pictures instead!

Here is my Tidal Wave sock in Tofuties yarn 790. It's my first sock, so I'm pretty darn proud of the progress so far!

Next is my Saartje's "Punk" Bootie. I call it that because I am hoping to find some skull buttons to put on them. They are for a friend of a friend who is having a baby girl. The Mama is punk and loves pink, black and skulls. I have tons of ideas for her and have made quite a few other things already for her (pictures to come). We are going to put together a basket full knitted and bought things for the Mama-to-be. I think she will be super happy!
Something for the Mama-to-be as well, a nice pink hat... I am about half way done. I am going to knit the whole thing up, then find a skull patch or just knit a skull on the hat. I think it will be pretty easy, but we will see!

I have also been on Ravelry pretty much the whole day today at work. I have decided I am taking pictures of all my WIP's, UFO's, FO's, and my stash and will be putting it up there, slowly! I don't have a lot, but I don't want to rush into in and get overwhelmed.

More soon... I promise!

It's been a little while...

So, this weekend was super busy, yet extremely fun for me! My parents arrived Friday night at 11 p.m. We went to a Sports Pub down the street from the National Airport and watched some baseball. Then we went back to my new house, which they hadn't seen yet, and just went to bed.

Saturday, I had to go into work for about an hour, so my parents walked around the neighborhood and saw where I work. Then after that, we went to the National Catherdral, took some pictures (which I will post later) and just looked around. It was neat to go to the 7th floor and basically see all of DC and of the surroundings! Then we drove into Georgetown and walked around a bit. It was hot, but still really nice to be outside enjoying the weather! We also went to Target and now I have proper curtains hanging on actually curtain rods! It's great! I also went to Old Navy, where I picked up a new pair of trouser jeans for $25.00!!! They are great, a little long, but they will shrink up in the dryer.

Sunday we went to Eastern Market and looked around, we found some really cool furniture, but didn't end up buying it. Then we got some nice looking apples and peaches. Yum! They were so good! We then went to brunch with my friend Ora, from WW, at this delicious diner! It was pretty much amazing :o) Then we went to Old Town Alexandria where I really hit the jackpot there! I got a new pair of khakis and a pair of black pants for work, that actually fit! We also happened upon Knit Happens, a really cool yarn store. We walked in and immediatle got great customer service from one of the ladies. It was fantastic! I ended up walking out with a socking knitting book and some new GREEN sock yarn. I had a great time, as did my parents! I even got to wind my own yarn with the swift and ball winder. Then we just went back to my house and relaxed for the rest of the night.

Monday, we went to my old work and new work, so my parents could meet everyone that I have/do work with. We had a great time doing that, then it was time for the National Zoo. Well, we drove there and there was NO parking at all, so we decided to go out to the Leesburg Outlets for the afternoon. Once we got there, we had a great time! I hit the second jackpot and got a new sweater from Banana Republic, a new Vera Bradley bag called the Hipster, and a new rug from Crate and Barrell that was only $24.00 and it will match my room decor perfectly! After that, we met my DBF for dinner. This was the first meeting of the parents and the DBF and they got along just great! I think we all had a good time at dinner, not to mention the food was delicious.

Tuesday, we finally went to the National Zoo, then the Museum of the American Indian. The zoo was great and seeing all the animals was really cool. The museum was different, but I really liked it as well. After that, we went to MatchBox for dinner with some of my friends from DC. It was such a great relaxing evening and the food was amazing! I reccomend it to anyone who wants amazing food at a reasonable price!

They left yesterday, and I was sad all day! I also had to get more dental work done, and that was really, no fun at all! So for now, I'm in pain with my mouth, and I'm just trying to get through the week!

I do, however, LOVE the change in the weather! It has been AMAZING today!!!

More later.. Look for a photo heavy post tomorrow or Saturday.. then the weekend with Wendy :o) We are going to spend an entire day knitting and hanging out..and I can't WAIT!!!!!!!!

New afghan, mitered square, new yarn...

I'm so excited about my new yarn! I went to Michael's with my roommate on Friday because we were both off work. I was thinking of starting an afghan with some nice soft yarn and that would be easy to make. Well, little did I know that that Red Heart Soft Yarn would be on sale 2 for $5, so I loaded up my basket and made my way to the register. I got a few other things, another skein of grape yarn for my IHS and another treat (I'll show that later)...

I got two of each color for a really nice and super easy afghan.

I'm just using a pattern for a dishcloth that I found online and making it bigger. Instead of 45 stitches, I made it 74. I think I also saw this same type of afghan on another blog out there somewhere! It's going to be nice and subtle but it will go incredibly well with my new duvet from Pottery Barn. I can't wait to see it all together and on my bed!
Now a progress picture of my first square. It's almost done now with working on it at work, on the metro, and on the back porch at home...
Next is my first Mitered Sqaure from Mason Dixon Knitting. I just wanted to try it and see how it worked and what it would look like. I would eventually like to make a whole blanket, but I will start with my one square...

Next up is some awesome cotton yarn that I got from Wal-mart for some more dishcloths. I finally found Peaches and Cream Yarn there and I bought only 2 skeins.. They are so pretty!

So now, my surprise for my parents when they get here...

Now a bit a of a back story on this, my dad hurt his eye in February and was always saying how he was going to go to Arrrrrrby's for lunch. So we started calling him a pirate. Well, for Father's Day, I found a pirate book that I got for my dad, then my mom got him another one. So I decided that I would get three of these for me, my mom , and my dad when they get here on Friday! :o)

Okay, back to work, AKA knitting my afghan because it's super boring. And tonight, going back to Michael's and then Cracker Barrel for a nice "home cooked" meal. Just need some comfort food right now!

Oh, and I currently have a flat tire on my car. I know I'm so lucky. But also I got a flat like in March and never fixed it, so I have to get that fix-a-flat stuff and take it to the shop tomorrow, after my root canal... Haha, what a week already!!!

WIP's

I have finally taken some pictures of a few of my WIP's and also almost FO, just need to weave in the ends and it will be an FO.

The first is a washcloth for a friend's DD, Becca. She went to the zoo in DC and she LOVED the armadillos. So, I went online and found a pattern for an armadillo washcloth that she could use at bath time.

Not the best picture, but I'm going to keep trying my skills with the camera and see what happens!

Next is my So-Called Scarf that I am making out of Cotton Ease from Lion Brand! They brought it back after discontinuing it and I bought 4 skines of the lime green color. It's so nice.

And finally, my Irish Hiking Scarf in Red Heart Soft Yarn in Grape. Yeah, I know what you are probably thinking, but it's really soft and really nice and easy to knit with.

Just love this scarf and the color is wonderful.

So these are a few of my WIPs for now with more to come.

I have yet to conquer socks, sweaters, or anything fitted, but that is next on my knitting agenda. I have plans to start my first pair of socks soon with the help of Wendy. Then I could teach her to crochet for her beautiful fall bag!

In non-knitting news, I need to have a root canal and it's scheduled for Monday. Oh, I'm so lucky.. Okay, not really, but we will see what happens! So glad I have some sick time :o)

Off to get some prescriptions filled for the tooth and some other errands!

Doing this blog thing....

So, I decided to start this blog about my knitting and ramblings about yarn, all my WIP's, and probably a little about my weight loss journey as well! It's a place to get to know me, my love of yarn, and for me to learn from other people!

So, I give you.. My self-portrait shot from the bathroom so show off my new haircut. But here you have me :o)

I've been reading other knitting blogs for a little over a year and have thought about starting a blog, but I never thought I would have enough to talk about. Well, I was inspired to start this blog by quite a few people, but the most influential person was Wendy from my WW group! She is great! I have learned a lot from her since we started talking about yarn and knitting! We had a bet, that when I lost 6 lbs, she would buy me a skein of Tofutsies in color 790. Well, I got it last night and I couldn't stop touching it! It's my first skein of sock yarn and I can't wait to cast on! First though, I need ot finish my long list of WIP's! I'm going to work on that list and take pictures of all of them so I can post them on here!

So until then.. Happy Knitting.. And happy Friday!
